Can I claim an EMS Conference as continuing professional development (CPD)?

If you work as a paramedic or in the acute care setting environment then the answer is Yes!

Where things get a little more confusing is when you look at how many hours you can claim as CPD. We are unable to put an exact number of hours on our conferences as AHPRA clearly state that practitioners “must reflect on your practice and identify and plan your learning needs and the type of CPD to meet these needs”. Any conference/ event that does this is through “organisational self-assessment” which is not endorsed by AHPRA (i.e. you will still need to do your own reflection to ensure the material is relevant to you).

As our conference have been specifically set up for paramedics and nurses/ doctors working in the acute setting environment we ensure to have topics (both interactive and e-learning) that will cater to your learning needs and as a general guide you should be able to claim between 12-20 hours for each conference. People working outside of these fields will also be able to claim CPD hours as long as the content (or part thereof) is relevant to their learning goals.
